KUALA LUMPUR, 11 June 2021: The National Higher Education Fund Corporation or Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) loan repayments will be deferred for three months, says Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad.
The Higher Education Minister said that borrowers who are affected can apply for the deferment on PTPTN’s official website between 10 June and 31 August 2021.
“The period of deferment starts from the month the application is approved. This is because the government is concerned and aware of the fact that there are PTPTN borrowers who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and have not been able to make loan repayments,” she added.
Datuk Seri Dr Noraini said in a statement on Wednesday (9 June) that details of the deferment will be provided by PTPTN, adding that borrowers with further inquiries can contact the PTPTN care-line at 03-2193 3000, from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m and 5 p.m.
She stated that previously the government deferred PTPTN repayments for all borrowers from 19 March to 31 December last year, and gave a special deferment for borrowers affected for three months between January and May this year.***
