GOMBAK, 7 May 2021: A total of 4,062 students will return to their homes in Ops Perantau in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri starting today until Wednesday (12 May).
According to the Deputy Rector of Student Affairs and Community Involvement of IIUM, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, a total of 796 students will be sent back in stages involving the Gombak, Kuantan, Gambang, Kuala Lumpur and Pagoh campuses while the rest returned in their own vehicles or will be picked up by their parents.
“Today, the first group of 287 students from the Gombak campus were sent through the Eastern Zone covering the states of Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan.
“For the second group, it involves 209 students who will move back tomorrow to the Northern Zone, namely Perak, Kedah, Penang and Perlis.
“Meanwhile, in the Southern Zone (Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor), there are 88 students who will be back to their home on Sunday,” he said.
On April 29, the Special Session Meeting of the National Security Council agreed to allow students of institutions of higher learning (IPT) to return to their homes in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidlilfitri holiday except Sarawak. ***
