IIUM latest official guidelines during CMCO

By Nik Nayly

GOMBAK, 31 March 2021: IIUM has issued new official guidelines for students who are currently on campus to go out during the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

This followed the announcement by the Malaysian government to extend the CMCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Kelantan, and Penang from 1 until 14 April 2021.

According to the guideline, students are allowed to go out from campus (outing) every day from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily starting from Thursday, 1 April 2021 to attend to matters of necessity. However, staying on campus is encouraged.

Students must return to campus on the same day by 10 p.m. and are not allowed for overnight stays outside of campus. Failure to do so, students may be required to undergo a SWAB test at their own costs and be quarantined.

For outings, students must register or check-in at designated gates and bus-stops to make sure they leave and return to campus on the same day. OSeM personnel will ensure students have registered before leaving the campus.

Following are the designated gates for outing:

  1. Main Gate of Kuala Lumpur campus
  2. Gate 2 of Gombak campus
  3. Main Gate of Pagoh campus
  4. Main Gate of Kuantan campus

Public transportation, e-hailing services, and personal vehicles may be used by students for outings.

Other than that, any designated Red Zone areas are off-limits to students for outings. The information on these areas is available on  http://covid-19.livephotos123.com/red-zones

Students’ permission to go for outing may be revoked if the outing results in positive COVID-19 cases on campuses.

To ensure the safe operation of the University, the IIUM management would not hesitate to enforce campus lockdown to control such situations.

Those with COVID-19 symptoms must directly report to IIUM Health and Wellness Centre (IHWC) for further assessment and management.

Students and staff must also practice Cleanliness, ensure Obedience to all instructions, always be vigilance of their whereabouts, istiqamah in translating instructions into practice, and discipline themselves.

Disciplinary action will be subjected to students who fail to adhere to the regulations.

This guideline is applicable until further notice. ***
