KUALA LUMPUR, 3 February 2021: The movement control order (MCO 2.0) currently enforced across the country, except several areas in Sarawak, has been extended to 18 February.
Senior Defence Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, during his press conference yesterday, said the extension will start from February 5, a day after the initial MCO 2.0 was supposed to be lifted.
“Risk assessments carried out by Health Ministry found daily cases in all states showed an upward trend with increasing case numbers and the rate of positive cases in certain clusters is still high at 20 to 40 percent,” he added.
Ismail stressed that the spread of sporadic cases in the community also showed a high increase involving citizens and non-citizens.
“Therefore the National Security Council during its meeting today (Tuesday) agreed to extend the MCO 2.0 enforced across the country from February 5 to Feb 18,” he said during the live broadcast.***
