COVID-19 Update: 2,433 new cases, 9 fatalities

GOMBAK, 10 January 2021: The recorded number of daily COVID-19 cases in Malaysia today shows an alarming spike of 2,433 new positive cases which brings the total number of active cases to 27,332 and cumulative total to 135,992 cases.

From the newly reported cases, only seven are imported.

As of today, 171 cases are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) in which 76 patients need ventilator support.

According to the press statement by the Ministry of Health, 1,277 cases have recovered from COVID-19 bringing the cumulative recovery cases to 108,109 cases.

Selangor remains the highest state of daily cases recorded with 730 cases followed by Sabah with 403 cases.

A total of five new clusters have been detected that are identified as Tapak Bina CyberCluster (67 cases), Texmile Cluster (19 cases), Jalan Sibuga Cluster (9 cases), Alor Durian Cluster (17 cases), and Wakaf Lanas Cluster (11 cases). This brings the total of active clusters to 254.

The nation also reported nine COVID-19 deaths raising the death toll to 551 cases. ***
