GOMBAK, 2 January 2021: The COVID-19 pandemic and practice of physical distancing had led the Institute of Public Relations Malaysia Student Association (IPRMSA) – IIUM Chapter to hold a virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the first time on 26 December last year via Google Meet.
Battling with the COVID-19 had forced this student association to adjust and adapt to the current situation. Despite the pandemic, the obstacles faced did not dampen the spirit and determination of the association to move on to bring benefit to its members.
Officiated by its founder, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Syed Arabi Idid, the AGM was attended by both the internal advisor, Dr. Zeti Azreen Ahmad, and its external advisor, Mr. Aznan Mat Piah. Their presence at the AGM reflected excellent mentoring in effort to take the association to greater height and to provide a more professional approach to its activities.
The AGM was told that throughout the year under review 2019/2020, this student association had managed to steal the spot as top five most active association in the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS).
All of the events were designed not only exclusively for Communication students but also open to students from other departments and kulliyyah for participation.
The good work as proven by the activities carried out by the past mainboard and team gave confidence and assurance for events planned for the future would be successfully held.
The AGM highlighted some of the main events that took place during the last term that included PR Fest, CSR programme involving teaching of children of B-40 from PPRT housing, visit to public relations firms like Edelman and TQPR for networking and seeking of professional knowledge, and the conduct of lecture series that saw participation by public relations practitioners to gain exposure.
The AGM also recorded its appreciations to the past main board led by its president Shafiq Izni.
