COVID-19 update: 1,594 new reported cases, 697 in Selangor

GOMBAK, 28 December 2020: The nation reported 1,594 new cases with 697 cases (43.7%) detected in Selangor alone which brings the total of active cases to 20,643 and a cumulative of 106,690 positive COVID-19 cases.

Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said a total of 1,181 COVID-19 cases nationwide have recovered and discharged, making a total number of recovered cases at 85,592.

He further mentioned in the press statement that “116 positive cases are treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 53 cases in need of ventilator support”.

Additionally, Malaysia reported three COVID-19 fatalities bringing the COVID-19 death toll to 455 cases as of today.

The total number of detected clusters in Malaysia increased to 489 clusters with an addition of five newly detected clusters. They are Tapak Bina Jalan Gadang Cluster, Menara Sri Cluster, Bukit Pasir Cluster, Pintu Geng Cluster, and Putra 15 Cluster.

From the reported cumulative number, only 54 clusters reported an increase of cases today.***
