GOMBAK, 24 December 2020: A total of 1,499 students have exercised their democratic rights voting in Anas Hayyan with the highest votes at the Presidential seat of the Islamic Revealed Knowledge Student’s Society (IRKHSSS) General Election 20/21 earlier today.
Anas, a candidate from the Department of Political Science, won the poll by securing 1,082 votes.
The Election Commission emphasised that this is an unofficial announcement and the official position will be announced at the IRKHSSS Annual Grand Meeting.
Joining Anas in the new mainboard line-up are as follows:
- President – Anas Hayyan (1,082 votes)
- Vice President 1 – Dayini Shaik (788 votes)
- Vice President 2 – Fakhruddin Razak (767 votes)
- Secretary General – Amni Lutfi (837 votes)
- Secretary 2 – Nazifah Ibrahim (621 votes)
- Honorary Treasurer – Amirah Yasmin (851 votes)
- Treasurer 2 – Aliff Naif (607 votes)
The election counting process which ended at 8.40 p.m concluded with closing remarks by the new President, Anas Hayyan. In his speech, Anas emphasised for the new mainboard to strive for greatness and success for KIRKHS.
The election recorded a total voter turnout of 34.2 per cent, 7.6% higher than the previous election.
The percentage of voters per department are as follows:
Department of Psychology – 33.5%
Department of Political Science – 35.7%
Department of History and Civilisation – 42%
Department of Communication – 26.6%
Department of Sociology and Anthropology – 45.8%
Department of Arabic Language and Literature – 45.6%
Department of English Language and Literature – 24.1%
Department of Fiqh and Usul Fiqh – 40.1%
Department of Qur’an and Sunnah – 29.6%
Department of Usuluddin and Comparative Religion – 31.1%
Of the total ballots, 41 were void.***
