COVID-19 update: 1,600 new cases, 4 new clusters

GOMBAK, 7 December 2020: A total of 1,600 COVID-19 cases including three imported cases were reported as of noon today bringing the current number of active cases to 11,604 and total confirmed cases to 74,294.

According to Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah Negeri Sembilan recorded the highest increase of the day with 541 cases followed by Selangor 426, Sabah 248 and Kuala Lumpur 148 cases respectively.

Putrajaya, Perlis, Terengganu reported 0 cases as for today.

Dr. Noor Hisham mentioned that the hike in Negeri Sembilan’s cases is mainly attributed to the Bakti cluster, which reported 500 new infections. “The cases linked to this cluster are isolated within a prison area,” he said.

There are also two new deaths reported, taking the cumulative COVID-19 death toll for the country to 384 so far.

The two death cases involved a 76-year-old woman who suffered from high blood pressure and anemia and a 59-year-old-man who had a history of diabetes and high blood pressure.

Additionally, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham disclosed a total 1,003 positive cases of COVID-19 have recovered and discharged today, adding to the total number of discharged and recovered cases to 62,306 cases.***
