GOMBAK, 13 November 2020: IIUM has issued new official guidelines for students either to return to campus or to stay at home during conditional movement control order (CMCO) in Gombak, Pagoh and Kuala Lumpur campuses.
This followed the announcement by the government on the implementation of the CMCO from 9 November until 6 December 2020 in all states in Peninsular Malaysia, except Pahang, Kelantan and Perlis, to help reduce the number of daily cases of infections.
According to the guidelines, all classes will still be conducted through remote teaching and learning (RTL) during this period.
After taking into consideration of the latest development, IIUM has allowed students staying in campus to return to their home from 13 to 22 November between 9 a.m and 5 p.m only.
However, IIUM will not issue any travelling permission letters for the students. The parents or guardian must obtain permission from the police authorities and provide their own transportation to take students from IIUM campus to their homes.
Students who return home are not allowed to re-enter the campus before the end of CMCO period.
For students who are required to do lab, workshop or studio, they may return to the campus on 21 – 23 November between 8a.m to 5p.m. These students are required to contact their respective department and Kulliyyah for class arrangement and permission letter.
They are also required to obtain permission from the police station from their current location to travel back to IIUM campuses. Upon arrival, the students will have to undergo health screening at IIUM clinics and complete a 14-day isolation at designated Mahallah before returning to their respective Mahallah.
The students who are currently at home during the CMCO period are allowed to perform Mahallah clearance online and return their keys by registered mail.
The registered postal slip must be kept as a proof that they have returned their keys to the Mahallah. Once they have returned the key, they will not be charged even though their belongings are still there.
Students are only allowed to clear their rooms once the CMCO is lifted, subject to the government’s instructions.
For students who are in campus, they are not allowed to leave after 22 November unless with the Mahallah Principal’s permission. Those who violated the rules and regulations will be placed in isolation at designated Mahallah for 14 days and shall be subject to further disciplinary actions by the University.
Since IIUM is expecting to be a green zone beginning of 12 November, food delivery and postal delivery services will be allowed to enter the campus by strictly adhering to the standard operating procedure (SOP).
Other than that, the following in-campus services will continue to operate during the CMCO while abiding the SOP:
- Mahallah café (dine-in or take away from 7am to 10pm)
- The Main Library
- General Computer Labs at ITD
- Sports facilities (Outdoor venues only)
- Banks will operate from 9a.m-3p.m
- Shops remain open as usual
Public transportation, e-hailing ride services and unlicensed transporters are still not allowed to enter the campus during CMCO.
Students and staffs are reminded to always practice physical distancing of 1 metre apart at all times, avoid 3C (Crowded, Confined and Closed conversation) and practice the 3W (Wash hands, Wear mask & Warn). Not to forget to always observe appropriate coughing and sneezing etiquette.
Those who experience COVID-19 symptoms or have had a close contact with someone tested positive for COVID-19 and/or a Person Under Investigation (PUI), MUST immediately and directly report themselves to the IIUM Health and Wellness Clinic (IHWC) or other IIUM health facilities. The IHWC Gombak general line is 03-6421 4444.
Together we shall help each other, protect one another by reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection among staff and students. #kitajagakita ***
