GOMBAK, 14 September 2020: The IIUM community will have an opportunity to gain more knowledge of the Palestinian culture and heritage from the IIUM Jerusalem Cultural Week 2020 held here from today until this Friday (18 September).
The cultural week will feature, among others, art and cultural exhibition, food bazaar and selling of commercial Palestinian products, Webinar series, performance by Palestinian students, poetry reading, film screening and book discussion.
The launching ceremony of the event was officiated recently by the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dato Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, witnessed by the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, His Excellency Walid A.M. Abuali, and Deputy Rector (Internationalisation and Global Network), Prof. Dr. Nor Faridah Abdul Manaf,
The Rector felt that this event was a good initiative for the IIUM community to gain more knowledge of the Palestinians culture and heritage since many of the students and staffs do not have the opportunity to visit the state themselves.
The IIUM Jerusalem Cultural Week 2020 is organised by the Office of the Deputy Rector (Internationalisation and Global Network) with the organising committees comprising the Office of International Affairs and the International Institute for Muslim Unity.
Meanwhile, Prof. Faridah expressed the hope that the IIUM Jerusalem Cultural Week 2020 will benefit the IIUM community with its events for the whole week. Staffs and students of IIUM are encouraged to join any of its events to witness the sharing and presentation of the cultural and heritage of Palestine.***
