GOMBAK, 26 March 2020: In view of the extension of the Movement Control Order (MCO) announced by Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday (25 March), the management of the university has decided to resume all academic activities on 1 June 2020 for Semester 2, 2019/2020.
The IIUM Action Plan for the re-opening of IIUM campuses and Academic Programme Offerings Post-Movement Control Order released by the Office of the Rector today stated that the university has decided that Semester 2, 2019/2020 and Semester 1, 2020/2021 will be shortened by two weeks followed by Semester 3, 2019, 2020 by one week. This is to minimise alterations from the original academic calendar.
All the university staff will be resuming their duties as normal once the MCO has been lifted on 14 April. On this date, all university services will resume operating as normal.
Following the action plan, students and staff are required to fill in a health screening Google form prior to their return on campus.
In regards to students who are currently on campus, Malaysian students are highly encouraged to return to their hometowns once the MCO has been lifted with the following conditions:
If the government finds it necessary for the MCO to prolong, IIUM will arrange for students to return to their homes in batches subject to approval by relevant authorities.
Meanwhile, international students will need to follow the advisory by their own countries and provide the International Office IIUM with the plane ticket and advisory seven (7) days before travelling date for clearance.
For safety reasons, returning students will not be allowed on campus before 29 May 2020 and will be returning to IIUM in batches by mahallah which will be announced later on.
This plan can only be utilised if the MCO is lifted before 24 May 2020. If the MCO is lifted on a later date, a new action plan will be devised and announced.***
