GOMBAK, 13 February 2020 – All classes at IIUM Gombak campus starting from 13 February to 23 February 2020 will be postponed to ensure the maximum safety standards and well-being of IIUM community from the recent outbreak of Covid-19 (novel coronavirus).
In addition to the postponement of classes at Gombak campus, all students’ activities are advised to be postponed as well.
According to the statement from the Office of the Rector, the University management has decided to take this proactive and utmost precautionary measures to continue with the standard operating procedure of conducting health screening for new students as well as for the returning students from China since 28 January.
The students who are arriving from China and for those who have recently travelled to China will be staying in two of the IIUM residences for monitoring purpose.
All students may choose to return to their respective hometown or remain on campus in the ten days of the postponement. However, all measures to minimise the risk of infection should be taken for those who prefer to stay put on the campus.
Students have been advised to maintain the cleanliness and personal hygiene by wearing a clinical mask in public spaces as well as washing hands regularly. Also, students have been advised to be updated on the news to get a better insight on the corona virus issue and how to take precautions on this matter.
