GOMBAK, 5 December 2019: Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) Ultra has returned with Chapter 2 running marathon with a new challenge especially for returning runners.
The race is scheduled to flag off at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday (7 December) at Male Sports Complex in IIUM campus here.
UIA Ultra is an outdoor sports activity organised by “Projek Hijo”. This running marathon specifically focuses on how secured and safe UIA is for the public to run in a small loop under a beautiful scenery.
Projek Hijo or Hijo Outdoor and Sports Event Management was established in April 2014 to provide event planning and management, event consultation, technical team and volunteer and rental of sport events equipment.
UIA Ultra has several categories for the runners to choose such as solo, duo and relay category. This year’s chapter will be placed in IIUM with 5.3km per loop with a total of 53km of running to be completed.
The first chapter of running marathon was held on 8 December last year in IIUM with the objective to expose to the public and running community that IIUM is a safe and secured environment for them to run.
They started organising events in 2016 which focused mainly in outdoor activities and sports, including running, mountain climbing, camping and water rafting. Events handled by them are mostly to reach their clients’ objectives and expectations.
Plaques will be given out for finishers at the end of the event.***
