GOMBAK, 27 November 2019: “One’s value is measured by his knowledge, the more we know, the better we understand the world,” said the Best Student in co-curricular of Kuliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), Muhammad Farhan bin Hanapiah.

In an interview with IIUMToday at the Banquet Hall of Muhammad Abdul-Rauf Building on Monday (25 November) following the Convocation Award Ceremony 2019, Muhammad Farhan recapped his journey in IIUM when he held the advice of his late mother which stressed on the need of being humble no matter how high he goes.

He quoted a Malay idiom ikut resmi padi, makin berisi makin tunduk, which means that the more knowledge or the higher the rank, the more humble a person will become.

Muhammad Farhan also said that it was not an easy task to manage his time between co-curricular and studies. He advised students on the importance of staying focused in class and asked the students to utilise their class time precisely to ask the lecturers on any confusion since they will be busy with societies outside the class time.

He had a mixed feelings when he was giving his appreciation speech since his father couldn’t see his success due to blindness, and his mother had just passed away few months ago after he had completed his studies as they are his backbone in his life.

Asked about his memories in IIUM, he noted that no words can describe his happiness to be part of IIUM community. Muhammad Farhan also expressed his gratitude in his speech to the university, especially the Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, lecturers and administrators, for helping him directly or indirectly throughout his studies here.
