GOMBAK, 9 November 2019 – A recent talk that had primarily focused on helping students build their passion had drawn good crowd from among both IIUM and non-IIUM students.

The talk on the topic “How To Build Passion From Scratch” featured Aiman Azlan, a well-known international motivational speaker, a bestselling author and a youth mentor.

Conducted by the Secretariat of Political Sciences (POSSA), Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS), in collaboration with Charisma Movement, a student-led organisation that encourages volunteering, it was held on Friday (8 November) at Main Auditorium, Kulliyyah of Engineering.

Aiman Azlan, began his speech by explaining his connotative definition of passion which is “whatever that gives you energy”.

He continued mentioning three simple steps into building one’s passion which would first be to find out what one is curious about, and secondly, to ask oneself if they are willing to do it, and lastly, to find out whether they like doing it or not.

Aiman explained that executing these steps are “easy to do but psychologically difficult to accept” as he continued to explain that “building it (passion) from scratch, it’s hard, because you have to have so many difficult conversations to get what you want and spoiler alert again, you are never going to get 100% of what you want, but you can negotiate your way to get as much as you can live with.”

He also explained that in order to build passion, detaching yourself from other people’s opinions of you and how your life should be, is crucial as your life is your own journey and no one else’s.

Due to free entrance, the event that started at 8.30 p.m. and ended at 11.00 p.m. was full-house. ***
