Young leaders for the next generation

GOMBAK: A group of 68 IIUM students returned to the campus after the ‘Young Leaders For The Next Generation’ programme  in praise of  their stay at Kem Bina Negara Ulu Sepri (B), Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.  The programme that took place from 10th to 12th June 2014 was organized   with the aim of encouraging and enhancing   leadership  and event management skills.

“This is  my first time joining this programme and I made many friends.  Instead of 3 months holidays, it’s a great chance to join this programme,” said Anatil Ashwaq, a representative from Mahallah Hafsah.

“Hopefully this programme can improve our leadership skills,” said Farhanah Izani and Aida, a representative from Mahallah Ruqayyah and Sumayyah who participated in the camp  organized by the Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD) in collaboration with Student of Youth Department of National Civic Bureau.

There are two major themes and excitement activities in this programme, theory and practical sessions. Among the activities are; Ice Breaking, Searching Information, Presentation and Survival, Leaderships and Team Building.

Dato’ Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Bin Dato’ Hj. Dusuki, Yang Dipertua Yayasan Dakwah Islam Malaysia (YADIM) an IIUM  alumni, delivered a speech entitled Kepimpinan Mahasiswa Pemangkin Kemajuan. “We as a Khalifah (Leader) in this world has to bear the responsibility to serve the ummah and the ultimate goal is to get blessed from Allah SWT in the hereafter,” he said.

“We have learnt a lot of things including how to take care of our feelings and others in completing a task, time management, strengthen solidarity by avoiding conflicts and the most important thing is that the decision making was made by the agreement of group members,” said Aida Shazana, representative of Mahallah Ruqayyah.
