GOMBAK, 16 October 2019 – A known global audit firm, KPMG, is offering IIUM students with a fair bit of sports background, a career opportunity with the company, regardless of whether they were only a school or a state representative.
In a meet and greet session with the students regarding internships and sponsorships in conjunction with IIUM Career Fair 2019 held at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) on Tuesday (15 October), students were told to put their experiences in sports in their resume when they apply to join the company.
“No matter the merit, it opens the opportunity to work with KPMG,” students were told.
The session with the students was conducted by two KPMG representatives, Mr. Adrian Loo, a talent acquisition specialist, and Mr. Adzrin Abdul Rahim, a committee member of KPMG sports club, who presented on “KPMG Malaysian and Athletes Arena”.
It was stated that in KPMG, the company accessed candidates holistically and not only based on the individual’s academics alone.
“If the sports that the students specialised is not in the list in KPMG sports club, it will still be considered as merits because of their experiences,” Adrian said.
KPMG, named after their founders through a merger of Peat Marwick International (PMI), Klynveld Main Goerdeler (KMG) and their partners, is a global network of professional firms providing audit, tax and advisory services.
The briefing session started with Mr. Adrian’s briefing speech about KPMG which was later followed by Mr. Adzrin’s explanation specifically on KPMG sports club.
The session ended with a Question & Answer session. For more information, readers may visit KPMG booth at the Main Hall, ICC, during the Career Fair. ***
