Bukit Tinggi: For the 200 alumni and family members of the Association of IIUM Graduate School of Management  (AIGA) who converged for Family Day 2014 at Colmar Tropicale, Berjaya Hills on 8 June recently, it was indeed a grand occasion and an opportunity to forge close ties and bonds of friendship.
The event saw the launching of AIGA by Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Abdul Aziz Kaprawi, representing Acting Minister of Transport, Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein, in the presence of the university’s Rector, Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin.
Also attended the event were former IIUM rector, Tan Sri Professor Kamal Hassan, Director of GSM, Professor Dr. Aahad Osman Ghani  and President of AIGA Protem Committee, Dato’ Hj Rais Hussin Hj Mohamed Ariff.
Professor Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin described AIGA as the first alumni chapter that is Kulliyyah-based.
AIGA is aimed at strengthening ties among its members to continue to work post-graduation to serve as a coherent team and an effective network for academic, business, charity, corporate and community services.
According to Dato Hj. Rais Hussin, AIGA is also intended to create greater awareness among its members towards Associational Social Responsibility to create a sense of commitment to society with continuous accentuation of accountability.
The event was closed with special performance by Malaysias Farid Sanullah who sang the official AIGA song and several songs from his own album.
