GOMBAK, 2 October 2019 – International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has been crowned as champion two years straight in the Pertandingan Pidato Antarabangsa Bahasa Melayu 2019 (PABM) or the International Malay Language Elocution Contest held last week from 22 until 28 September at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim, Perak.
IIUM emerged first place in the ‘Alam Melayu’ category which was represented by Amirul Iqmal bin Razlan, a fourth year bachelor’s degree student in Islamic Finance.
“I believe that this award is all because of the effort from my coaches especially Aiman Arif, Daud and others who have always been with me through ups and downs till this point. Thanks to everyone who have prayed for me and came all the way from IIUM by bus to show your support,” said Iqmal Razlan.
He continued, “For me, the main challenge of this competition, as we know, is that every country sends their representative who is the best among the best. So, as the representative of Malaysia, which is the host and organiser of the competition, we should be more prepared to be the model or set a benchmark for other countries.”
“Some tips from me for those who want to dive in this speech contest area, before we want to give information to others, we must understand in-depth about the issues with the hope that our contents will sink into the audiences’ hearts,” Iqmal added.
PABM Competition 2019 was organised by Majlis Debat Universiti Malaysia (MADUM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Department. ***
