Psychology secretariat to hold training on psychological first aid, 11 October

GOMBAK, 21 September 2019 – The Psychology Secretariat will organise a one-day Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) in conjunction with the World Mental Health Week 2019 on 11 October to expose individuals on supportive and practical help during crisis situations.

MHAT is essentially a training programme on psychological first aid (PFA) which will be held from 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m at HS Seminar Room, Human Sciences building.

The training will be given by the reputable Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diana Baranovich Shoup of University of Malaya, with a fee of RM15 to be charged for IIUM community, and a RM20 fee for non-IIUM community.

“Psychological first aid training focuses on teaching individuals on how to give supportive and practical help to people who are suffering because of serious crisis. MHAT encourages students and non-students from IIUM and other universities from all backgrounds to attend,” said head of public relations for MHAT, Adzatul Bakar.
