KUANTAN 15 September 2019: The spirit of volunteerism should be instilled in the hearts of every individual in order to produce people who are compassionate towards society, especially to those with special needs.
Realising this, the Foundation Centre Human Sciences Society (FOCHUSS) and Red Crescent Club (RCC) of Centre for Foundation Studies IIUM, Gambang, has organised a community service programme involving painting and cleaning at Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Seri Teruntum, Kuantan. The programme was joined by 40 students from Centre for Foundation Studies IIUM, Gambang campus and teachers of Pusat Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti Seri Teruntum, Kuantan.
The president of FOCHUSS, Muhammad Faris bin Jafri said, “Programmes like this is imperative in familiarising our students with community service from an early stage.
Furthermore, this programme will give a breath of fresh air and comfort to the residents of PPDK which consists of the teachers and the special students with down syndrome, ADHD and autism.”
“I am very supportive of this sort of programme for students because it builds community spirit and cooperation among students besides just focusing on our academics,” added the president of RCC, Akmal Arif bin Rosmaidyani.
This collaboration between FOCHUSS and RCC of the Centre for Foundation Studies IIUM is also to instil cooperation between students so that this culture of helping one another will continue to blossom and be practised by generations to come.***
