GOMBAK, 3 September 2019: The Student Representative Council (SRC) will be organising the biggest entrepreneurial event called Global Entrepreneurship Symposium 2019 (GES19) on 24 September this year.
Its aim is to give exposure for students on the world of entrepreneurship which will be driven by successful entrepreneurs who have been invited to attend the event. The programme consists of an exhibition by major entrepreneurs, including those from IIUM itself, a PC fair, food trucks sales, and a sharing session by social media influencers.
Malaysia’s top influencers who will enliven the event include Chief Executive Officer of Suhan movies and Trading Sdn. Bhd., Datuk Rosyam Nor, Executive Chairman AirAsia Group Berhad, Datuk Kamarudin Meranun, Chairman of Mara Corporation, Akhramsyah Sanusi, Founder of ML Studio, Matluthfi, Founder of De’Xandra, Ernayanee Nur binti Julaimi, Chairman of Malaysian Association of ASEAN Young Entrepreneurship, Syed Nabil Aljeffri, Founder of WowKawKaw Empire, Muhammad Naeem, Yasmin Rasyid, Sharifah Rose and Nurin Afiqah.
“We haven’t done anything this big before, therefore, we hope all students and those who are nearby the campus here would come to our event. We have established more than 20 partnerships, just for this event.” Mohamed Azmudeen Barrat Husain, who is the Chairperson of Entrepreneurship secretariat, Students’ Representative Council, said during an interview on Bernama News Channel (BNC) Nine11, recently.
Azmudeen also added that the SRC is working closely with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development, hoping that this event will receive an endorsement from the Ministry to add credibility to this event and attract more audience.
Meanwhile, Putera Muhammad Syaamil Ismail, the executive on sponsorship of GES19, also told BNC Nine11, that he hoped that students would not miss this rare opportunity to network with some important people in the industry.
The SRC representatives also expressed the hope to see successful young women entrepreneurs like Neelofa and Vivy Yusof, come to this event as many IIUM students are idolising the two who have proven themselves in entrepreneurship.
