GOMBAK, 24 July 2019: Encouraging people to show empathy towards animals, that’s the mission of Abu Hurairah Club, a newly established club that participated in the booth exhibition in conjunction with IIUM Takrim Day 2019 today.
Nur Athirah Adibah binti Norarham, the head of the club’s rescue and shelter bureau said that the club aimed to build empathy among IIUM community towards stray animals as it is what Islam has encouraged Muslims to do.
Having all sorts of cat-themed products as the highlights of their booth, Athirah said that the profit from the sales will be used for charity purpose.
This club has a mission to help stray cats and dogs and provide shelters for them at the Kulliyyah of Information Communication & Technology (ICT) while stray dogs are given away to other NGOs for adoption by them.
Their legacy is now continued with the establishment of Abu Hurairah Club (Junior) in one of the high schools where they held their event recently.
Meanwhile, IIUM community were invited to visit Medical Centre booth to get free medical check-up and freebies.
Rohana binti Ibrahim, a medical staff from IIUM Kuantan said that by providing free medical check-up, they can fulfil their responsibility to create awareness among IIUM community to take good care of their health since during normal circumstances, medical check-ups are expensive.
Many other booths were available during the exhibition which commenced on Monday (22 July) in Banquet Hall, ICC, including booths from all kulliyyah and several from other divisions.
All students and staff have been invited to visit the exhibition. ***
