Welcoming Ramadan spirit with ‘bubur lambuk’

GOMBAK, 3 May 2019 – Some 3,000 packs of “bubur lambuk” were given out to the IIUM community on Friday (2 May) at the foyer of Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAS) Mosque in the spirit of welcoming the fasting month of Ramadan.

The distribution of “bubur lambuk” was under the event “Ahlan Wa Sahlan Ya Ramadan” organised by Mahallah Aminah in collaboration with several enntities such as the Student Representative Council (SRC), I-Masjid, Mahallah Hafsah and Mahallah Bilal.

In addition to these entities, several departments also joined the “bubur lambuk” programme such as the Department of Student Affairs and Development (STADD), SHAS Mosque, Kurnia, Kesatu and Daya Bersih.

The programme started at 7:30 a.m and ended at 12:30 p.m with many volunteers participating, both from among the staff and students.

Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Rector (Student Development and Community Network), Associate Prof. Dr Zulkifli Hasan, IIUM CENTRIS Director, Associate Prof. Dr Akmal Khuzairy Abd Rahman and Deputy Rector (Internationalization and Global Network), Prof. Dr. Faridah Abdul Manaf.

According to one of the committee members, Elyana Sofia, the IIUM community was very supportive of the event as she could see the unity among the community during the preparation.

She added that this programme has overall achieved its target.***
