GOMBAK, 3 May 2019 – A talk on a theme ‘Islam and technology’ that featured popular icon Ustaz Addien was successfully held on Thursday (2 May) at Mini Auditorium, IIUM, conducted by members of the Information and Communication Technology Students’ Society (ICTSS).

The talk was primarily focused on current issue following the incident in Christchurch, New Zealand in March where many people pointed their fingers towards violence game because the attacker was reported to have streamed the attack live on social media with a camera on his chest, making the situation looked similar with typical shooting games views.

The event which began at 8.00 p.m and ended at 11.00 p.m was the ICTSS slot programme, targeting participants from among IIUM students, especially those who play games as their main hobby.

The organiser of this talk, Afifi Syahmi, said that the topic was paralleled with current issues that were happening around.

“It is essential for us to listen to Ustaz Addien’s opinion about this matter because every time violence incidents happened, some people loves to blame the game and gamer itself as the main root of these incidents,” Afifi added.

Addien is popular among social media users in Malaysia, especially on Twitter, because he loves to answer netizen’s questions on any confusion in Islam especially in hadiths and fiqh cases.***
