Early celebration for Teacher’s Day

GOMBAK, 26 April 2019 – Globally, Teacher’s Day might be celebrated on 16 May every year. But this year, the celebration came early on 24 April for the Kulliyyah of Education (KOED)’s students and lecturers to commemorate their former lecturer, the late Prof. Dr. Che Noraini Hashim, with the award of ‘Guru Budiman’.

According to the event’s assistant programme manager, Khairina Anisah Jusoh, this half-day programme was celebrated early not because the actual date falls during the month of Ramadan, but also in appreciations of the contributions of the late Prof. Noraini in her academic years.

“Customs across cultures” was the theme for this celebration and normally the attire that would be highlighted for such an event is the traditional attire but the organiser had chosen the wedding style so that the students and lecturers can enjoy themselves to the fullest within a brief period of time.

Besides the students’ performances, lecturers also participated in the performance on stage which shows the situation of teachers in schools and how to handle various kinds of parents.

This is an indirect lesson to be learnt in the celebration for future teachers of KOED which they will face when they graduated from the university.

“Annually, KOED celebrates Teacher’s Day during April, but because on 16 May, the final exam has just started, the student society of KOED does not want this celebration to interfere with the final exam preparations, hence the celebration is in April,” Khairina added. ***
