GOMBAK, 26 April 2019 – A forum was told recently that being merciful to others and the environment is the key to achieving nation’s growth.
“We have to follow the principles and guidelines of the Quran and Sunnah as well as to understand two prominent concepts to ensure our society’s happiness,” Dr. Ahmad Samsuri bin Mokhtar said.
“Being merciful to others and the environment is the key to achieving a nation’s growth. And by following the two concepts, we are showing to the world that we are responsible in implementing Allah’s commands,” he emphasised.
The Menteri Besar of Terengganu, who was the lead speaker at the “Islam Leading Model” premier forum series 2.0 (ILM 2.0), was referring to the two concepts highlighted in the forum – Baidatun Tayibatun Warabbun Ghafur, administering and prospering the nation in line with the concept of a good nation, blessed by Allah The Most Forgiving, and Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin, mercy to all creations.
Organised by Ma’aruf club on the theme “Malaysia as the Model of Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin”, the forum was held on Monday (22 April) at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) in campus here.
In his opening remarks at the forum, Deputy Rector (Students Affairs and Alumni), Associate Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Hasan stated that the forum was an exchange of ideas to promote awareness among IIUM community on the two concepts.
He said, “This is a new form of students’ engagement and empowerment as it is in line with the new narratives of students’ dynamism.”
The IIUM community has, therefore, become part of a fresh insight to a new future implementation of policy for the nation, the forum was told.
The event that ended at 11 p.m was attended by students from all kulliyah.***
