GOMBAK, 12 November 2018 – As a survivor of cleft lip and palate, Royal Education Award recipient Nur Hasnin Binti Ahmad Raidin said that her weakness did not stop her from excelling in her studies.

In a brief interview with IIUMToday, she said that the award should not be a barrier to those with weaknesses or disabilities. “Your weaknesses and hardships should not stop you from achieving, however, it should be a stepping stone for you to do better in your studies in this university.”

“Everyone deserves a chance to succeed in life,” she added.

She received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery scroll in the second session of the 34th IIUM Convocation.

Asked about her opinion regarding the award she received, Hasnin said that this prestigious award should be offered and promoted in the university to motivate students to study and finish the course.

She added, “It indicates that the Royal institutions support and appreciate outstanding students in universities nationwide. I hope that with the award given to me, it can motivate my juniors to do their best in all aspects.”

She was also awarded the best overall student in the Kulliyyah of Dentistry.
