GOMBAK, 9 November 2018: A total of 5,413 graduands will receive their scrolls at the 34th International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) convocation ceremony on 10 November until 13 November at the IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) in main campus here in Gombak.
The ceremony will be officiated by the newly appointed IIUM President, Dr. Maszlee Malik.
Out of the 5,413 graduands, 4,449 will receive bachelors degree, while 964 will receive masters and PhDs. At this years convocation, IIUM has introduced Ibn Khaldun Merit Award which will be given to a non-government organisation (NGO), Penang Consumer Association (CAP). Its President, Haji SM Mohamed Idris will represent the association during the ceremony.
Presidential Award, BUDI Award and Rector Award are some of the awards that will be given to graduates who achieved excellent results in their academic and co-curriculum activity. IIUM has put forward three special awards, particularly for graduates who have achieved outstanding results in both fields.
One of them is Atiqah Othman, a remarkable law graduate, will be receiving Ibn Ummi Maktum Special Award while Nur Amalina Kamsani, also a law graduate, who is active in co-curriculum activity, will be awarded the Amru Ibn Al-Jamuh Special Award.
These awards were specifically introduced by IIUM sixth Rector,  Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, intended to mark some changes in IIUM.
