GOMBAK, 22 October 2018: An inspirational talk by IIUM senior counsellor Saiful Redza, brought by the MRC of Mahallah Maryam to broaden the perspectives on career development for female students, was successfully carried out on Saturday (20 October) morning.
Held at the MPH of Mahallah Maryam with attendance of approximately 30 students, the event had left a significant result on the expectation of the committee.
“Career is not a job and a job is not a career. However, career is needed to support our living,” said Saiful. He then showed the statistics on the growth of job opportunity according to where the students study.
“Based on the statistics, graduates from public university has rapidly increased in number in seeking for employment. Sales and marketing are currently the hottest job in Malaysia, followed by accounting,” Saiful added.
Saiful also said that career could affect many things in life including relationship, social status, personality, lifestyle, and economic status. He said that the most important thing is value. “Companies want to see what you could give to the public, and the uniqueness in yourself that is different from others, is important is this current era.”
He ended his talk with these inspirational words: “Company expectations are beyond your CGPA. Create your own resume. Showcase yourself to the public. Participate in many events, be the leader.”
