“RE:Action Youth Engaged” debate: Syed Saddiq impressed with youth response

GOMBAK, 20 September 2018 – Following a successful launching of the “RE:Action Youth Engaged” public debate series Tuesday night (18 September), the Minister of Youth and Sports, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman praised the youth for participating and joining the public debate.

The debate held at International Cultural Centre (ICC) in IIUM campus here drew almost 2000 audiences.

“My opinion regarding the acceptance of audiences, I think most of them accept this programme in a good way. I can see the audiences have turned out beyond my expectation, it was full house and I am so happy with that,” Saddiq told IIUMToday.

He expressed the hope that this programme would give youth the exposure on current issues and directly involve the youth in implementing the policy of “Malaysia Baru” era.

Meanwhile, one of the audiences, Arman Iskandar, 22, said that this event will open the people to a wider range of discourse. He also said that it will be a fresh start to the new culture in IIUM.

“RE:Action Youth Engaged” programme is a public debate series organised by IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to encourage participation of youth in promoting debates on current issues.***
