GOMBAK, 20 April 2018: Nature can be preserved in the 3R way – reduce, reuse and recycle. In conjunction with the Earth Day which falls on 22 April, an event called “Earth Day Exhibition” was recently held in campus here, featuring exhibits from Pusat Kraftangan Orang Asli Batu 12, Department of Irrigation and Drainage and River of Life (ASPEC).
The exhibition was aimed at creating awareness among campus community on the importance of clean environment as well as introducing the culture of indigenous people and how they have been affected by pollution.
It was open to all IIUM students with free admission to expose the campus community to the ways in preserving the environment as well as demonstrating the eco-friendly products created by students from SOCA 3670.
Held on 18 to 19Â April from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Human Science Square, the event was organised by Academic Staff Association (ASA) in collaboration with Jabatan Pengairan dan Saluran Malaysia, Public Outreach Programme, Pusat Kraftangan Orang Asli Batu 12 (PKOA12), IIUM Eco Club and SOCA 3670.
œWe want to create awareness among IIUM students on the importance of taking care of our environment, said the event’s programme manager, Adibah Baharom.
The upcoming event by ASA called “IIUM River Cleaning” to be held next Tuesday (24 April) will take place in front of IIUM clinic and HS building.***
