GOMBAK, 27 January 2018: A total of 30 students created history on Friday (26th January) for being the first batch of students to receive their certificates for completing their Foundation studies at the IIUM Academy of Graduates and Professional Studies (IIUM ACADEMY).
Initially known as IIUM Crescent, the IIUM ACADEMY is an initiative by IIUM which opens the Foundation studies to international qualifications making IIUM the first public university in Malaysia to have made such a move.
According to the Dean of IIUM ACADEMY, Prof. Dr. Aahad M. Osman Gani, international and local students who successfully meet the minimum international qualifications required, may enrol in the programmes offered.
“We are proud to be the only public university in Malaysia to be allowed to accept foreign students in the Foundation programmes.” Prof. Aahad added.
Up to this point, only Malaysian students were allowed to join Foundation programmes in all local universities based on the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) qualification.
In November 2016, a total of 30 international and local students enrolled in the Foundation programmes located in IIUM Kuala Lumpur campus under four distinguished courses, namely Laws, Human Sciences, Economics and English Language, while the Foundation programmes in the Sciences were offered at Petaling Jaya and Gambang campuses.
IIUM ACADEMY offers various Continuous Professional Development (CPD) programmes, trainings, workshops and seminars to clients seeking to broaden their knowledge and skills in business management and administration, legal practice, languages, Islamic understanding, education and other fields that may be tailor-made according to specific needs.
