‘Indonesian Day’ to promote cultural heritage

GOMBAK, 20 September 2017 – In conjunction with the Islamic New Year, the Indonesian Students Association of IIUM (PPI IIUM) will organise “Indonesian Day” on 22 until 29 September this year.

The event aims to provide a platform of silaturahim and to foster kinship of all Indonesian family members of IIUM consisting of academicians and students, as well as cultivating the spirit of nationalism among them. In addition, Indonesian Day will promote the richness of Indonesia’s cultural heritage and revitalise Islamic values, specifically through the celebration of the Muharram New Year.

The programmes during the event would include the opening ceremony and Islamic New Year (22/09), Family Day and PPI Got Talent (24/09), Food Corner (25-27/09), Indonesian Carnival (28/09), and Cultural Night and Closing Ceremony (29/09).

The President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dr. Rais Yatim will also attend the event. Other honourable guests include, among others, officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia, International Affairs Division of IIUM, the Deputy Rector of IIUM, and Indonesian lecturers in IIUM. ***
