GOMBAK, 12 August 2017: In collaboration with IIUM Bot, Students Representative Council (SRC) is making a bright start to solve the students who are faced with problems of inconvenience in getting food during short semester or during vacation as not all canteens are open during these periods.

The “Bot” in “IIUM Bot” is short from for Robot. IIUM Bot acts like a virtual assistant where users can request to do several services such as finding a runner, a transporter, a car rental, or even buying top-up.

The IIUM Bot was created in 2016 by KICT student, Wildan Zulfikar, and is currently serving 550 users and counting.

As for the case of collaborating with SRC, IIUM Bot acts as a platform where students can find a food runner, or to become food runner themselves, whereas SRC helps for promotion to students and recruiting runners.

SRC hopes that the platform will ease students in situations where getting food becomes difficult, like when the Mahallahs’ canteens are closed.

Fadhillah Asaadah of SRC of IIUM Gombak stated, “Using the Bot is the right choice for both; those who need to get food or for those to be the runners.”

At the moment, the services are available via Telegram app. To start using the Bot, users can simply visit this link: bit.ly/iiumtopup

It will redirect users to a chat with IIUM Bot in Telegram. As the chat begins, IIUM Bot will introduce itself and show the users how to use available services.

“The idea of IIUM Bot is creative, moreover it is simple and easy to use,” said Farnazh who is one of IIUM Bot’s customers.***
