GOMBAK, 3 August 2017: The ˜Jamuan Mahabbah organised by the SRC Secretariat in collaboration with Maaruf Club recently had found the Rohingya community overwhelmed.
The programme was coordinated with several designs to help enhance the bond and also to partake in the happiness of the Malaysian people in celebrating the Eid with the Rohingya community.
“This programme was a good platform to show our love and care towards the Rohingya refugees as we believe that the cultural difference should not be an issue.
Although Rohingyas culture is different from Malaysian culture, as Muslims, we share many similarities,” the event’s programme manager, Muhammad Fawwaz Asyraf said.
œAlhamdulillah this programme has been successful and all the Rohingya children enjoyed the Hari Raya celebration.
œWe invited around 120 Rohingya students to come to the ‘Pusat Akar Budi’ Batu 11, Gombak for the programme, but surprisingly the kids who came to the programme exceeded the invitations. This showed that the programme has enticed the children and made them interested to come to this event, he added.
Fawwaz said that there are around 30,000 Rohingya refugees in Gombak. He said that although Syawal has ended, the SRC Secretariat and Maaruf Clubs members still wanted to welcome the Rohingya community by holding the ˜Jamuan Mahabbah.
The event started at 7.30 a.m and ended at 1.00 p.m. The programme also included performances, a speech from a VIP, a recitation of Al-Quran, and several other activities.
The favourite part of the event was the food. There were a variety of food served to the children and people who attended the event.
The secretary of the programme, Hajar Alyani Che Razak said, œThe kids were having so much fun with the activities coordinated by the community, but there was one problem – the lack of the food.”
œThis is because the total number of participants has topped the count, but Alhamdulillah, this problem was overcome after that, she added.***
