Call to enhance collaboration with the alumni

GOMBAK, 13 July 2017 “ An IIUM Alumni Raya Gathering was held on Tuesday (11 July) noon at Banquet Hall, IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), organised by the Alumni and Global Networking Division.

Among special guests at the event were IIUM Rector, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin, the Ambassador of Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Malaysia, His Excellency Emir Hadzikadunic, the Director of Al Kauthar Resources Sdn Bhd, Abdul Rahim Ahmad, the CEO of TwentyEight Lab, Perth, Australia, Azizi Khalid and the General Manager of IAT, Eidit Hashim.

The Deputy Rector (Internationalisation & Industry and Community Relations), Prof. Dr. Abdelaziz Berghout, in his welcoming speech highlighted the importance for the alumni office to enhance greater collaboration, networking and bonding with the alumni regardless of whether it is done inside or outside the campus.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin in her address said, œWe are very proud of our alumni. In fact, it is reflected in the tagline ‘Our alumni, our pride’.”

She invited the alumni to get involved in charity (waqf) for the university especially for the needy ones who get the chance to study in this university, but lacking in financial support.

The objective of this event, according to the Alumni and Global Networking Division, is to strengthen the ukhuwwah and bond among the IIUM alumni to continue serving the ummah.

The Alumni Raya gathering was just the beginning as there will be another one which is scheduled at the end of July 2017 called IIUM Alumni Charity Dinner. ***
