IIUMs Quality Day: Religious studies and scientific research receive limelight

GOMBAK, 28 April 2017 “ It’s Quality Day, on 27 April, and academic and administrative staffs of IIUM were all gathered to commemorate the annual event, the very day eligible staffs of the university were credited for their hard work and determination they put into their jobs.

Held at the IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), the event was organised by the Office of Institutional & Academic Quality Management (OQM).

Among distinguished guests who graced the ceremony were the Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato Seri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin and the Dean of KIRKHS, Prof. Dr. Rahmah Ahmad H.Osman.

Certificates were given to Self-Accreditation Committee Members as a token of appreciation, and to the winners of the 12^th Innovative & Creative Circle (ICC) Convention, Public University Level 2016, that ranked the university at third place, for Best Record Management Award.

Some of the 11 awards presented were the Zaid bin Thabit Award, the Presidents Budi Award, the Murabbi Award and the Ismail Al-Faruqi Award. Every single award presented has its own criteria as to how the selection of the candidate was done.

A lecturer from Centre for Languages and Pre-University Academic Development (CELPAD), Dr. Zalika Adam won the Zaid bin Thabit award in recognition of her achievement to memorise three juzu from the Quran.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Spahic Omer, a lecturer of the Kuliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, won the Ismail al-˜Faruqi Publication Award for his book titled “From Mosques to Khanqahs: The Origins and Rise of Sufism and Sufi Institutions”, which was published under IIUM Press.
