GOMBAK, 22 April 2017 – A lecture was recently told that safeguarding of the nation’s sovereignty and security and well being of the people is “not the responsibility of the Immigration alone”, but everybody should have the right mindset to safeguard its safety and sovereignty.
The Director-General of Malaysia’s Department of Immigration, Dato’ Sri Hj. Mustafar bin Hj. Ali last Thursday (20 April) was addressing a total of 200 participants consisting of university students and staff members at the Senate Hall in conjunction with IIUM Global Forum.
Also present at the talk was the IIUM President, Tan Sri Dr. Rais Yatim, the Deputy Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dr. AbdelAziz Beghout, and several members of the IIUM board.
The lecture titled “Borderless World: Safeguarding Sovereignty of the Nation†was brought into session with the objective for the Immigration Department to share knowledge on nation’s sovereignty and security with the IIUM community.
Among the issues raised during the lecture were efforts by the government to overcome the challenges faced by the Immigration Department such as corruption, security of illegal entry points, and deportation of illegal immigrants.
Dato’ Sri Hj. Mustafar stressed the importance of collaboration between the authorities to overcome issues surrounding safeguarding of sovereignty and safety of the nation and the well-being of the people. ***
