GOMBAK, 14 March 2017: Team Saffahun emerged as the champion for KIRKHS League, defeating HS Eagle in the run for representing KIRKHS in the upcoming Inter-Kulliyyah Sports Festival (KUSEF).

It was an unexpected win as HS Eagle was leading the match in the first half by 1-0 with the goal scored by HS Eagle player Arman Praseyo. However, according to Saffahun team captain, Mohamad Fathie Mohamad Zaki, it did not falter the team’s spirit.

“Being defeated definitely motivated us. So, after the first half was over, we highlighted our mistakes and we are determined that until the final whistle was blown, we will fight to the end,” he said.

Meanwhile, the football match commentator, Muhammad Fitrie Mohd Fuzi, mentioned that the change of tactic by the Saffahun in the second half has helped them to win.

“The long ball attempt was successful as Helmi Nordin scored the first goal for Saffahun in the second half, tying the two teams 1-1,” he said.

The other three goals were scored by Zahiruddin Zaki, Fathy Zaki in penalty kick, and Fadhil Nawawi completed the glorious night for Saffahun.

In facing the tournaments in KUSEF, Mohamad Fathie hoped for the best. “Inshaallah, we will give a challenging competition to our opponents.”

The football match was the highlight of the KIRKHS League closing ceremony that took place in Stadium Sayyidina Hamzah Stadium.

KIRKHS’s Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamad Fuzi Omar, was present at the event to award the winners of the other categories of sports.

POSSA FC won the netball competition while the Bola Kampung team won the futsal (male) match. Omputih team won the futsal (female) match while volleyball (female) match was won by POSSA Rangers. Vanguard team emerged as champion for volleyball male category.***
