‘Run for Palestine’ to promote healthy lifestyle while creating awareness

GOMBAK, 13 March 2017: Al-Aqsa Friends Society is inviting people to join their first ever run for charity, œRun for Palestine (RFP), on Sunday, 2 April 2017.

According to the Programme Manager, Intan Fithria Alkaaf, it is a sports event to promote healthy lifestyle and to heighten public awareness regarding issues and conflicts that are happening on the daily basis of the Palestinians lives.

œIt is not only about running, we also want to educate the participants. So we are going to have checkpoints in every 2.5 km where committee members in charged will explain about Palestine, she added.

RFP is open to both IIUM community and the general public. It is divided into two categories, 5km for RM30 and 10km for RM35. The run will begin at 7:30a.m at Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (KICT).

Registration can be done at the RFP booth in front of ITD from 8:30a.m until 5:00p.m and also via online. Last day of registration will be on 14 March (Tuesday).

œRun for Palestine is a collaboration event with MyCARE, IKRAM Siswa UIAM Gombak (ISUG), Sudanese Student Society (SSS) and other societies.

Intan Fithria added, œThere will be no competition among participants, everyone will receive medals, t-shirts and others while the money we received will be donated to the Palestinian people through MyCare.
