GOMBAK, 25 February 2017:Â IIUM Special Convocation for Saudis King Salman which was previously scheduled on 28 February morning has been postponed to the evening.
The convocation will be held on 28 February 2017/ 1 Jamadil Akhir 1438H at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC) which was previously known as Cultural Activity Centre (CAC). His Majesty King Salman is expected to arrive at 8.00 p.m.
To make sure everything runs smoothly, traffic and parking has been arranged in conjunction with this special convocation, according to IIUM’s security officials. A few parking areas are required to be vacated from 6.00 p.m 27 February 2017 till the end of programme on 28 February 2017.
The parking area that are required to be evacuated are along the roadside from roundabout main entrance to Gate 2, Main Auditorium parking, ICC parking area, and KAED parking area. Vehicles parked at the said area on 28 February 2017 morning will be towed to Convest Hill and the owner has to bear the towing cost.
The main entrance will be closed for public access from 6.00 p.m till 10.00 p.m on 28 February. However, Gate 2 and Gate 3 will be open from 7.00 a.m till 11.59 p.m. Rapid Bus will operate up to male Sports Complex only from 6.00 p.m till 10.00 p.m on 28 February 2017.
His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques will be receiving an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science (Islam and Wasatiyyah) and Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of His Majestys meritorious contribution to the university and to the progress of the Muslim Ummah.
Among those who will attend the convocation are His Royal Highness the Constitutional Head of IIUM, Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Mustain Billah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Abu Bakar Riayatuddin Al-Muadzam Shah; Advisor to the Government of Malaysia on socio-cultural matters and President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dato Seri Utama Dr. Rais Yatim, and Rector of IIUM, Prof. Dato Sri Dr. Zaleha Kamarudin. ***
