GOMBAK, 17 February 2017: Bantuan Buku 1Malaysia (BB1M) is an initiative by the government to help ease local students to buy books they need to assist them with their study. This year, the government has taken a different approach to ensure the incentive given will be used appropriately.

A Bank Rakyat officer has confirmed through a phone call today that BB1M for this year will be given through Kad Debit Diskaun Siswa 1Malaysia (KADS1M Debit) card.

This year, students who are still studying in local universities will be receiving the BB1M through debit card. The Ministry of Higher Education will credit the incentive into the debit card that can be collected from Bank Rakyat.

Students are required to register themselves online at www.bankrakyat.com.my and click on the Bahagian Bantuan Pendidikan Pengajian Tinggi. Upon registering, students have to wait for an email from Bank Rakyat before they can collect the card and their chosen Bank Rakyat branch.

Students can start registering themselves starting today until 31 March 2017. A fee of RM5 will be charged upon receiving the debit card. For more information do call 1 300 80 5454.

This initiative would help to curb BB1M voucher abuse that happened in the previous years.***
