IIUM handball team finally brings back gold

GOMBAK, 14 November 2016 – After a series of attempts, our handball team engraved their name in history to bring home precious gold medal for the first time in Majlis Sukan Universiti Malaysia (MASUM) held in Arau, Perlis recently.

The International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) team finally outclassed their close rival from University Technology of Malaysia (UiTM) in final match by 22 – 15. After just one draw at their first fixture versus UiTM, they became unstoppable and really showed high spirit with consistent win until the final match to meet up again with UiTM in final.

“Nothing to say, this is reward for our team effort, we create a big history for IIUM, may this legacy continue successfully in the future,” said team captain, Muhd Uzair Zubli.

The one managing and coaching the team was Koh Chan Seng, and he stated that recent legacy (team) cannot be forgotten. “Our defence is solid, and today we have shown to everybody what we are capable of,” he added.

They also proved to be the winner by scoring almost 120 goals during the competition.

IIUM female handball team also finished at the top four after being defeated by University of Malaya (UM) in third place battle. ***
