Convest EverRun 2016 promotes healthy lifestyle

GOMBAK, 14 November 2016: Convest EverRun held in conjunction with Convocation Fiesta 2016 (Convest’16) ended on Sunday (13 November 2016) full of fun and colour drawing more than 1,000 participants from among  IIUM community and the public from outside the campus.

Organised by 32nd IIUM Convocation Fiesta 2016 (Convest’16), the event was held at the Male Sports Complex (MSC). The run that began at early at 6.30 a.m and ended at 11.00 a.m witnessed an enthusiastic spirit from participants in reaching the finishing line.

The run, which started and finished at the MSC, comprised four categories of distance – 3km, 5km, 10km, and 21km.

“The run was actually targeting a total of about 1,050 participants. Participants who came from the community both inside and outside campus gave their positive feedback to our event,” said Convest 2016 EverRun Programme Manager, Mohd Saiful Nizam Abul Mansor.

“I would like to thank all the committees and participants who were involved in the run and also our special thanks to our sponsor, Imtiaz Digital that assists in realising our event,” he added.

The first winner of 21 km category was Mohd Fakhri Mohd Ali, who was able to finish first due to his own running routine, but he did not actually make any special preparation for the run.

“I actually did not make any preparation of this run because it becomes my routine in doing long distance run every week with friends, and every day I will run at least 5km to maintain my stamina.”

Among others, the objectives of Convest EverRun was to promote a healthy lifestyle among the communities of IIUM and non-IIUM as everyone can take part in this event.

It was also a chance to enhance community bonding among IIUM students and non-IIUM students, at the same time, helped improve the community life of the students in leading future societies.***
