GOMBAK, 19 September 2016: ‘Orphans Awareness Week’ (OAW) organised by Caring Club IIUM is calling for around 40 vendors to participate in their charity event scheduled to take place from 10 to 14 October.

The event is expected to draw people to the Engineering-Education hallway where the main objective is to raise awareness about orphans, particularly among IIUM students, according to the President of Caring Club, Ahmad Farhan Shahrul Azhar, who is also a KICT student.

“It is also one of the many initiatives of the society to strengthen our financial sources to continue serving our cause,” he added.

“The funds generated will be used to do more programmes under our very own ‘Mayang’ programme, which is an academic and spiritual-building module that we conduct at selected five orphanages in Gombak area.”

The club’s five selected orphanages are Rumah Permata Hatiku, Rumah Hasanah, Rumah Faeez, Rumah Nur Qaseh and Anbu Illam.

Caring Club is one of the many clubs under the University Centre for Community Engagement (BUDI) IIUM, and is currently one of the most active clubs.

Last year, OAW came under spotlight at IIUM CAC Riverside. For this year, the event will be followed by another big event, Caring Club’s ‘Run for Orphans’, which will be participated by IIUM students and members of the public at Taman Metropolitan Kepong.

Vendors interested to participate in OAW can contact Meera (0182848503) for further information.***
