Communication student wins first prize in “Voice For Palestine”

GOMBAK, 6 May 2016: A communication student from China, Cai Xinyue, who is studying in IIUM’s  Communication Department, Kulliyyah of Human Sciences and Islamic Revealed Knowledge, won first prize in the “Voice For Palestine” English section contest.

Al-Aqsa Friends’ Society in collaboration with the Palestinian Students Association and IIUM Nasheed Club organised an event titled “Voice of Palestine” which is a speech contest focusing on the Palestine issues.

The competition aimed at discussing the issues that are happening with the state of Palestine nowadays. It is intended to instil awareness within IIUM community regarding the Ummatic issues around the globe especially the Palestine issues, to promote more of he culture of the Palestinians, as well as to increase the level of self confidence among IIUM students.

This programme involved participation of students from various backgrounds and culture. There were special performances by local and international clubs in IIUM. In addition, they were also having booths from various NGOs in Malaysia.

The title of the speech by Cai Xinyue was “What Do We Talk When We Talk About Palestine”. The reward of the winner is RM150. Commenting on her success, Cai Xinyue  said, “I feel sweet to be surrounded by praises.”***
