Steadfast McLeague 2016 President’s Cup to increase confidence level

GOMBAK, 24 April 2016: With the theme œSpeak Up, Unseal the Truth, Steadfast McLeague 2016 President’s Cup was held on 22Â and 23Â April at Moot Court, Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Law (AIKOL) with an objective to increase the confidence level among the participants.

The objectives of the McLeague are to increase the level of ‘critical thinking’ of Steadfast Club members in expressing fresh and creative ideas as well as constructive views on certain issues, to familiarise club members with current issues, and to produce knowledgeable facilitators.

This programme was organizsd by HRM bureau of Steadfast IIUM Club which is also as one of the ‘in-house trainings. This debate competition among the bureaus within the Steadfast IIUM Club was conducted in Malay language. It also acted as a platform for the club members to polish their skills and improve the talents.

œThe initiative we have taken was to increase the speaking skills and develop the thinking level of the participants as well as to earn confidence for the future needs, said Namazi Ab. Rashid, the President of the Steadfast IIUM.

There were eight bureaus which participated in the McLeague and the league was held for two days, league round on 23/04/16 while semi-final, final and closing ceremony on 24/04/16.

With the topic of œKemerosotan Mutu Graduan Punca Utama Penganguran (The Deteriotation in the Quality of Graduates is the Main Cause of Unemployment), the finalist teams Kerajaan “ Gemuda and Pembangkang “ Outreach have shown their beautiful performance which was amazing enough to bring the crowd from the audiences.

Finally, Kerajaan-Gemuda won the Steadfast McLeague 2016 President’s Cup through their charming performance.

œI am very glad with the organiser of this league because it helps me to be brave and definitely it will help to overcome my weakness in the future, said Nor Ashita Bt Mohd Saberi, the winner of the best debaters award in Steadfast McLeague.

Programme Manager, Adi Adha Bin Zainal Abidin said: œWe bring the judges from IIUM debate club to make the competition more successful and now we are very happy to see the improvement of our team members on the stage.
