GOMBAK, 13 April 2016 “ Three very well rounded individuals had gathered with students from several educational background to discuss and clarify matters relating to Islamic States of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in a forum-based programme held at the International Islamic University Malaysia here yesterday. The forum had attracted many students to listen to the  views and true stories behind the so-called Islamic States or ISIS.

Associate Prof. Dr. Ishtiaq Hossain said that this so-called organisation is well managed by their great leader namely Abu Bakr Baghdadi, who had drawn up much changes in ISIS. In addition their army is very well equipped and it’s dangerous. He said, œThey are recruiting their squad from convicted persons.” He continued mentioning “how formidable they are the fact they cannot be easily tracked down by the authorities, until now they are everywhere.

Together with Dr. Ishtiaq was Ahmad El Muhammad who has a good background on this issue. He has interviewed several ISIS militants who have been arrested by the Malaysian authorities. He said throughout his research, the approaching method in recruiting new members is very easy; œthey got people through social media and also asked them to raise funds for their army in Syria by doing business and trade.

ISIS is very famous with suicide bombing with many of those cases have been reported across the world.

Ahmad said, œIt is a test to new members whether they are faithful or not;  if you accept it, of course you will die, but if you refuse they will accuse you of being a spy.

The last panelist was Prof. Dr. M. Rashaad Bakashmar, who is currently working with Political Science Department. He claimed that this is a new chapter of the same story with same old problem which is terrorism. He added that a group of terrorists keeps emerging one after another œstarting with the event of 9/11, we are then faced with the Al-Qaeda and the evolving has not stopped.

“This forum is a major success by Political Science Students Association (POSSA)”, one political science student, Said Radzi remarked.

“Alhamdulillah, we managed to get full house attendance. Thank you to Nor Imran who is the Programme Manager for the forum and not forgetting his fellow members of the committee,” Said added. ***
